Permission error when editing category

  Hello all, when i try to edit the description of a category (I’m the only user and administrator of the site), i get the error that follows: ‘You Need a higher level of permission. Sorry, you are not allowed to edit this item.’.
  I was able to edit categories descriptions a year ago (In fact most of them still have my original edits), but now i can not edit neither that ones, nor the new ones that i’ve just created. ¿Any suggestions?

  Hi –

  Please confirm which site you are trying to edit the categories on. Share the URL. It sounds like you probably just aren’t signed in to the right WordPress.com user account.

  Hi there!, the site it’s amenepop.wordpress.com (I couldn’t change the website that appears on the opening of this post; both Proditae and Amenepop are hosted under the same WordPress account, same email, same everything.

  Are you trying to edit them at https://amenepop.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit-tags.php?taxonomy=category or at https://wordpress.com/settings/taxonomies/category/amenepop.wordpress.com?

  Can you check if using the other link from the one you tried before helps?

  Hi kokkieh, the second URL that you posted worked!!, it seems that the problem is with the WP Admin editor; the “new” editor works fine. For reference, this is the URL that i’ve been trying to use:

  https://amenepop.wordpress.com/wp-admin/term.php?taxonomy=category&tag_ID=3205&post_type=post&wp_http_referer=%2Fwp-admin%2Fedit-tags.php%3Ftaxonomy%3Dcategory

  ¿Shall i use the newer wordpress editor from now on or the WP Admin editor will be fixed later on?; thank you so much! (To you and lizkarkoski!)

  The problem with editing categories in WP-Admin is an old one, and as far as I know an issue with the WordPress software itself rather than WordPress.com, so I’m not sure it’s something that can be fixed. It’s also intermittent – it would work fine for a while, then suddenly stop working without any reason.

  So I’d recommend using the option in the My Site dashboard instead – that interface is newer, and was built from scratch, so doesn’t suffer from all the old legacy code that sometimes gum up the works in WP-Admin :)
