Personal domain with free hosting

  I wanted a personal domain for my website. The price for it was $18/year so does this meant that only have to pay $18 for the domain and get to host free?

  You will need the Domain Mapping upgrade to do use a custom domain with a WordPress.com site. Domain Mapping is included in all WordPress.com paid plans (but is not included with our free plan):

  Once you have purchased a plan, here is a support document that will explain how to set up Domain Mapping with your domain:
