    I need to change the phone number for 2-step authentication but wordpress doesn’t let me disable it in order to change the number.

    Hi there,

    Is the issue that you can’t disable it because you don’t have a code to provide when you are asked for one? If so you can get around that by first printing backup codes for yourself: https://wordpress.com/support/security/two-step-authentication/#backup-codes

    Then you can use one of the backup codes to disable 2 step authentication, and set it up again under a new phone number.

    After you get set up under your new number, we also recommend you print out a fresh set of backup codes and store them in a safe place. You can use them to regain access in an emergency in the event you do not have your phone on you.
