Photo Gallery – Do Not Click Through To Larger Image
-
Hello – I added a gallery of two images under ‘Artists’ I am looking to fix it so when I click on the image, it does not open up into the larger full image. Also if possible instead of opening up the full image, it can open into another page. The blog I am talking about is: sadoperatest.wordpress.com
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,
Thanks for responding. I ended up entering them as separate images instead of a gallery. I would still like how the caption shows when you hover over an image in the gallery – but this at least is a quick fix.

When I first began using WordPress.com in 2008 and for a few years after that, every embedded image and gallery image automatically displayed a hoverbox, or mouseover, which displayed the image title when you ran the cursor over it. The gallery images hoverbox (text box) was eliminated first, if I recall correctly, several years ago. Since then I’ve yet to find a way to add a hoverbox to a gallery image.
Not long after the gallery images hoverbox was eliminated, there came the first of a number of changes each of which has complicated the display of a hoverbox over an embedded image.
Presently, with regard to the WP-Admin interface (which I greatly prefer to the My Sites interface), a title field is present in the Attachment Details of the Insert Media module, but the title applied does not display in hoverbox. Neither does the content of the “Alt text,” “Description,” or “Caption” fields (all present under Attachment Details of the Insert Media module) display in a hoverbox. Instead, the only way to display a hoverbox over an image that I’m aware of is to add the hoverbox after the image is inserted as follows:
1. At the WP Admin post or page editor, click on the embedded image to display the image editing toolbar.
2. Click “Edit (pencil icon)” to open the Image Details module.
3. At Image Details > Advanced Options, add the text you want displayed in a hoverbox to the Image Title Attribute field.
4. Click Update at the bottom right of the Image Details module.
5. Update the post or page. -

To accomplish this in the WP Admin post or page editor, you would choose “Attachment Page” at Image Details > Display Settings > Link to.

I’m sorry that last instruction applied to embedded images. For gallery images, take the following steps:
1. In the WP Admin post or page editor, click on the gallery to display the edit options popup.
2. Click “Edit” (pencil icon) to open the Edit Gallery module.
3. Click on the image you want to display at the file size.
4. At Gallery Settings > Attachment Details > Link to, choose either “Attachment Page” or “Media File.
5. Update the Edit Gallery module.
6. Update the post or page. The Media File option is a valid alternative for an embedded image as well, which I inadvertently omitted in the previous post.
