  I want to publish a simple website to display pictures that can be downloaded. Can this be done at WordPress and for what price

  You can do this on WordPress.com, yes. All sites have the ability to display pictures, and the functionality to download a picture on a site is built into browsers themselves, so no special features are needed on our end to make that possible. So you can do this on our free plan.

  Working With Images

  If you want to sell your pictures, where someone pays in order to download a high-resolution copy, you’d need an ecommerce plugin like WooCommerce, and that would require our Business Plan.
