I made a site a couple days ago and tried making it into a wordpress theme all day yesterday trying to follow various tutorials online. It seems pretty straight forward, cut up your index file into separate files (adding the link things in index.php) and then adding the code to the header, footer, content, and sidebar. However, every tutorial I tried didn’t work.
So, I am wanting to know if anyone has code that I can cut and paste into my theme that simply works? No formatting tags as I can add that later, but simply the php I can add in between my div tags. Any help would be greatly appreciated. dropslash @ gmail dot com [edited by Trent]

You are in the wrong support forum. This is the wordpress.com support forum for bloggers who are free hosted by wordpress.com. We run on different software that the software that you downloaded. We cannot access our underlying templates here.

Also note that the form you posted your email address in means spam bots will crawl it. This form would have been better dropslash[at]gmail.com but that being said please take note that the volunteers answering forum questions at both wordpress.com and wordpress.org do not provide support by email.
