Picture links are gone

  • Unknown's avatar

All of the links to my pictures are gone. There are no pictures – just boxes w/ the dreaded red “x.”
When I view my blog, there are no pictures posted. When I check them in the edit feature within the blog post, the link to the picture has been deleted. This has happened to all of the pictures I have posted in every published blog. I am hoping there is an easy fix for this glitch as I can’t imagine having to go back and find every single picture I have ever used.
If there is no way to bring the original pictures back, how can I post pictures in the future to avoid this from happening again – when I first published the posts, the pictures were just fine.

    Thanks

    Hi there,

I took a look at the broken images in your most recent post here: http://apparentlyweareadults.com/2013/03/05/the-million-woman/

Those images were all directly linked from Pinterest, and it looks like the original images on Pinterest are gone. When you link to images hosted on another website, there’s no way to guarantee that those images will always be there. Unfortunately, that also means there’s no way for us to recover those missing images.

The best way to make sure that images will never break on your WordPress.com blog is to save the image to your computer and then upload the image directly to your blog’s Media Library. You can either upload images by going to Media > Add New in your dashboard, or by uploading the image using the Add Media button when you create a new post. That way, the image file itself is saved in your blog’s media library and won’t be deleted unless you choose the delete the file yourself.

Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)
