  I subscribed and payed for a 1 year membership in June but the page appears as if I own a ‘free’ membership?

  I guessthat upgrade was connected to another account of yours. As you have a paid Plan, you can very easily restore access to that account using the TransactionID at https://en.support.wordpress.com/account-recovery/
