I am really struggling to add a picture to the home page of my blog

Where exactly do you want to add a picture?
Your site’s home page is currently set to show your latest posts, and you don’t have any posts published yet, which is why the homepage isn’t showing anything.
Your theme doesn’t have support for a custom header image either, there’s no way to add an image as you currently have the site set up. If you publish posts with featured images, those images will display on the front page.

Otherwise, to have an image on the front page you’ll have to use a static front page. Go to My Site ->Site ->Pages and create a new page or edit an existing one. There you can use either an image block or a cover block to add an image, depending on exactly how you want it to look, and you can also assign a featured image to the page which should appear at the very top.
Once you’ve published that page, you can set it as your site’s front page, and then that will display when you view the homepage.

Thank you so much for the information . This blog is for a class I am taking, and a requirement is that I have a home page with a picture, but also displays all of my blog posts . I am really struggling with this .These are some of the requirments:
Site title: Give your blog a name. The blog will be used solely for class assignments and activities, including your observations about social media, journalism, and public relations. Please do not post anything personal on your blog.
Photo or artwork: Your homepage should include a photo or some kind of artwork that represents you in this class. (Don’t use the same photo I used on the class blog.)
Tagline: A very brief sentence stating what the blog is. Use this tagline to explain that it is a blog for COJR 3422 at SHU.
Theme: Select from the free options available.
About Page: Your About Page should include six to eight sentences describing yourself and the nature of the blog (sort of like a longer version of the tagline.)
Menu: Links to the About Page and Home Page need to appear in your blog’s menu. The menu is typically found near the top of the blog.
Widgets: Select and edit widgets. Place widgets you want to add into the page’s sidebar if possible. Your blog needs to have the following four widgets: Blogs I Follow; Follow this Blog; Archives; and Social Media — Twitter and Instagram.
Please embed your Twitter feed on the side or bottom of your blog.
Follow the course blog: Make sure that you are following the course blog. Click the “Follow” button in the right sidebar of the main page.

Every theme is a little different but you should be able to do this with out any trouble. Can you share a link to the site so we can take a closer look?
Are you allowed to put the “blog” on a separate page that’s linked in the site menu?

I think so but I have to have the blog feed and a picture on the home page . Also, I need to embed my twitter .

You’ll want to add the Twitter Time Line Widget. To do that, click on My Sites – Design – Customize – Widget – Add Widget – Twitter Time Line.
So, you’d like the posts to all display beneath the image of the rabbits?
You currently have a front page designated and a post page designated. If you’d like to have the posts display on the front page then we need to adjust that setting.

Yes that is exactly what I am trying to do . Can the post appear under the rabbit and also on the posts page too?
Also, how do I move the widgets from the bottom to the side?

To have your posts display on the front page, you will need to go to Design > Customize > Home Page Settings and enable Your Latest Posts:
This particular theme doesn’t have feature of having the most recent posts on the static front page in addition to a posts page. However, you can add a latest post block to the front page so that users can see the most recent posts:
Also, this theme does not have sidebar widgets, only a footer widget:
You may want to try a different theme with recent posts and sidebar widgets if you are wanting both of those features. Let me know if you have any questions.
