please make my domain name available

My domain name brightonlabradoodles.com has expired (15th Nov) but is not showing as available to someone else who wants it. I want to revert my blog to default address, so that it can be used by my friend, or transfer to her.

I’ve set your primary domain to brightonlabradoodlesdotcom.wordpress.com by going under Store > Domains.
Does your friend already have a WordPress.com site? If so, I would be able to transfer the domain to her directly. That way, she could renew the domain while it’s still in the 18-day grace period following its expiry.
When a domains expires, it isn’t automatically released for re-registration by the general public, and it may never be released. The current owner first has 18 days in which to renew it – that’s the period we’re in now, the “grace period.” After that, the domain enters a period called “redemption” in which it can still be renewed, but with an additional $80 late fee. After that, the domain may be made available to anyone who’s back-ordered it through a domain service, or put up for auction.
The best way to transfer the domain to your friend if she doesn’t already have a WordPress.com account and doesn’t want to keep it for use with a WordPress.com site, is for you to renew it now, and then initiate a domain transfer to a different registrar. Once that’s done, you can transfer ownership to her. Keep in mind that if any changes are made to the registrant contact details, the domain won’t be transferable for 60 days, so be careful with this.

Thanks for your answer. She has set up a wordpress site – sharonshoozoo.wordpress.com so would be great if you could transfer the name brightonlabradoodles.com to her.

I’ve transferred ownership of the domain upgrade to your friend and her site. She can now renew the domain in her site’s administration area under Store > My Upgrades. Please let her know that she should do this as soon as possible, as the domain only has a few more days during the “grace period” during which it can be renewed for $18.
We will also need to make one more technical change on the domain registration side to complete the transfer, so I’ll let you know if I require further information from your friend in order to do that.
