Please stop holding my domain hostage

I want to transfer my domain, but it appears you want to charge me 5¢ per day ($80) late fee before I can use the “Authorize Transfer” feature — $80 is a ridiculous sum to pay for one year of domain hosting.

Could you kindly give me the authorization code so I can transfer it to a more reasonable registrar?

I guess I can wait for it to expire, but that would make me an extremely unhappy WordPress customer and probably never come back.

    Hi there,

I reviewed our records and found that your domain freshpondpartners.com expired 37 days ago on July 27, 2013. Since the domain expired, it can’t be transferred to another registrar at this point. You would need to renew the domain to regain ownership in order to use it or transfer it.

Domain expiration is a lengthy and complicated process that takes about 80 days. During this time, your domain may be put up for auction or sold on back-order. You can learn more about domain expiration here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-expiration/

Your domain is currently in the redemption period. This means the domain name can still be renewed, but our registrar imposes an additional $80.00 redemption fee.

If you do not wish to pay the $80 fee you may let the domain expiration process continue and attempt to register the domain again at the regular price once it has expired completely. Please note that someone else may purchase the domain first, in which case you will be unable to register it again. If you’d prefer to renew it now, please let me know and I can provide the details for making the renewal payment.
