Plugin Installation

Hi, I would like to ask regarding the plugin installation. Since my plan is free, I understood that I couldn’t install any plugins. Based on my understanding, if I wanna install, I need to upgrade my plan to business. My question is, if I install WordPress on my web hosting, does it allow me to install those plugins without having to upgrade my plan to business?

The site I need help with is livefundlearn.wordpress.com.

  • Hi there!

To clear up any further confusion, there is WordPress.com and WordPress.org, and they are two different entities.

We, WordPress.com, are a cloud-based platform where we manage WordPress sites, whereas WordPress.org is stand-alone software that you can download and self-host with any other hosting.

You can find more details about WordPress.com and WordPress.org on this support page:

    https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/.

WordPress.com is a shared environment and we do not allow installing third-party themes or plugins for security reasons. Business sites undergo a series of structural changes to allow that and that is why you’d need a Business plan to install any plugin.

On a self-hosted site, you are the one responsible for your site’s security and you can install any plugin.
