  Im thinking of transferring from google site to wordpress because apparently google site supported addons are quite buggy. Is it possible to simply copy the content and design from my old site?

  Google Sites don’t offer an export file that’s compatible with WordPress.com. So, you’ll have to manually copy and paste your texts and media files. For that, we have put together a guide you can follow:
