  Hello,

  For some reason, I do not have a plugin option on my dashboard. I’ve been reading a ton of articles and trying to figure out how I can install plugins but I cannot figure it out. I used MAMP to install wordpress on my MAC — I’m not sure if that affected things.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi there,

  It is not possible to install plugins on WordPress.com, for security reasons. Plugins can only be installed on self-hosted WordPress sites. (The version of WordPress you installed on your Mac is a self-hosted version of WordPress — that also won’t connect to your WordPress.com site.)

  That said, WordPress.com has a lot of built-in features that were inspired by popular plugins. Chances are, the feature you are looking for is already there! You can search our support site for details about many of our built-in features.

  If you don’t find what you are looking for, just let me know what you’d like to achieve with a plugin, and I’ll help you find a solution.
