    I was going to try to install the Thrive Themes Plugin – but it seems as though I might need to upgrade to a business account in order to use that? Is that correct? It would be nice if a less expensive account would allow for plugin installations.

    You’re correct. Third-party themes and plugins are allowed with the WordPress.com Business plan and higher.

    We have plenty of features available on WordPress.com sites (with various plans) that you can use without installing a plugin. You can see this page for a list of built-in features: https://wordpress.com/support/plugins/#built-in-features

    However, when it comes to other, third-party themes and plugins that aren’t listed there, they are available with the WordPress.com Business plan and higher. You can check out other Business plan features and pricing here: https://wordpress.com/pricing
