Plugins and FTP access

I upgraded to the Business version of wordpress. The site I created is shapingtomorrowtoday.com. I wish to have the ability to add plugins. Right now, there is no plugin option on my dashboard. After reading many forum threads, I believe that I need FTP access to add these plugins. I.e., download plugin, upload to wp-content/plugins…etc. My site is registered with Wild West Domains. I just want to be sure before I pay the 8.99 per month fee with Wild West Domains to get FTP access, that this is the solution to what I am trying to do? Please advise. Thanks,

I’m so sorry, but I believe there may be some confusion between WordPress.com and the self-hosted WordPress install. WordPress.com has a lot of built-in features that were inspired by popular plugins. Chances are, the feature you are looking for is already there! You can search our support site via this link:

It is not possible to install plugins on WordPress.com, for security reasons. Plugins can only be installed on self-hosted WordPress blogs. If you are wondering how WordPress.com differs from WordPress.org, this support article explains the distinction:
