Plugins for wordpress.com site

I would like to install the plugin “Optimize Press” for my site that I purchased through wordpress.com. How can I do this? I do not see the plugins tab under Appearance.

Hi there,
It is not possible to install plugins on WordPress.com, for security reasons. Plugins can only be installed on self-hosted WordPress sites (using the free software from WordPress.org). You can read more about how WordPress.com differs from WordPress.org if you’re interested.
If you need all of the features of the OptimizePress plugin, you’ll probably be better off with a self-hosted WordPress site. However, you may also want to check out the WordPress.com Business plan to see if that offers enough of the features you’re looking for.

Thank you. If I decided to go that route, do you know how I can take my domain I purchased through wordpress.com and move it to a self-hosted site? I basically need to delete the website and take the domain and use it through wordpress.org so I can self-host.

Sure! There are a couple options for moving your domain to a new host, so that’s not a problem.
You’re welcome to set the WordPress.com site to private if you don’t want it to be visible to the public. Sites with custom domains can’t be deleted, but if you transfer your domain to another registrar you can then delete the site.
