plugins or work arounds

    i have realized in my research now that I cannot upload plugins to a wordpress.com site. My issue with the setup I have is this: I need to have aplugin that would allow me to enter 40 or so email address’ and then when i post a blog, it notifies that group. Knowing this situation now, is there an alternative to my predicament. Do I need to have a hosted environment in order to upload plugins and do this sort of customization?

    What you can do is have these people follow your blog. Once they do, they will receive email notifications every time you post.

    You can add the Follow Blog widget that will allow people to follow your blog.

    Do I need to have a hosted environment in order to upload plugins and do this sort of customization?

    For plugins you would need to move to the self-hosted, WordPress install on WordPress.org.
