Pointing WordPress domain to Squarespace

  I seem to be having the same problem a lot of others are having in regards to the custom DNS settings.

  SquareSpace is saying this :

  “1. Create a CNAME for the full version of your Custom Domain name, for example: http://www.mysite.com and point this to: http://www.squarespace6.com specifically.

  2. Create an A Record for the short version of your Domain, ex: mysite.com (without the www.) and point this to our IP address: 65.39.205.57

  You do not want to change your Name-server information, nor create Redirects to your Squarespace6 site, as these methods will not work, or may conflict with the CNAME or A Record information you’ve set up. “

  WordPress keeps giving me errors saying the formats are wrong?

  Im setting it up like this –
  CNAME <www.bryanhudsonphotography.com><http://www.squarepace6.com&gt;
  A <bryanhudsonphotography.com> @ <65.39.205.57>

  Any advice will help on this.

  The error is this –

  1. CNAME records should be “CNAME <subdomain> <domain>”. No wildcards (*).
  2. A records should be “A <subdomain> <IP>”

  Hi there, I’ve updated these settings in your advanced domain manager, since A and CNAME records for a primary domain and “www” can’t be set using the basic DNS editor.

  You’ll need to complete the domain mapping of your site on the Squarespace side to see it come up.

  Just let me know if you need anything else.
