post summary doesnt work

  Hi,

  I am trying to get the opening page of my blog to show summary blog posts, not full text. I’ve gone to the reading area in the settings menu and have chosen summary instead of full text display, but nothing has changed. Any thoughts? I’m using the Oslo theme which I purchased in part because when you look at it in the themes area it shows the main page as having blog post summaries, which I liked the looked of. Any help you could provide would be wonderful.

  Hi there!

  The Setting that you changed only affects emails and RSS feeds. In order to shorten the content on your front page you’ll need to use the Excerpts or More tags:

  So…one final question. I’ve been trying to work this one out on my own, but I’ve checked through the help links you offered and a few others and am not finding the answer.

  The oslo template comes with a sidebar header and it has the option to place an image behind the header and use an opacity percentage to let the background image show through. It works perfectly if I go to a specific page or an individual blog post. but I have noticed that if I just go to my main page I cant see the background image, just the black menu/header side bar. (I don;t know if this is making any sense…)

  Anyway, I’m just wondering if I’m missing something or if it just doesn’t work to show the image through when you’re on the main page. just curious. I’ve walked through the step to put the background image in, adjust the oppacity, etc. several times. It may just be that it doesn’t apply to the main page of the blog. Any thoughts? (last one, I promise…)

  We’re currently having some issues with the sidebar in the Oslo theme. This only happens on archives pages, which includes your recent posts page and your category pages.

  I’ll update this thread when the theme developers have a fix for this. :)
