Posterous import failing miserably
-
For a few weeks now, yes, weeks, I’ve been trying to import my Posterous blog, to this newly created wordpress blog.
WHAT I CAN SEE
In the Import Posterous Page it reads:
host name – xxx.posterous.com
email – linked to posterous
password – of posterousWHAT THE SUPPORT PAGE LOOKS LIKE
In the instructions page: http://en.support.wordpress.com/import-from-posterous/ it reads:
host name – xxx.posterous.com
USER NAME – OF WORDPRESS BLOG
password – for what I’m not sureCan anyone help? I only get an email that says it “has failed and to contact support,” who is not available?
THANK YOU for all help in advance!!!

Hello there,
I can’t help you so I have flagged this thread for Staff attention. Please be patient while you wait. -

Hello, yes, thank you, many times.
(Does it matter, I wonder, that my posterous and newly crated wordpress blog have different email addresses?)
The only thing that I can see as a glaring difference, is the 2nd input field:
Mine reads = email address (of posterous.)
Support Instructions read = wordpress blog name.Any ideas?

I checked the Posterous importer page for dlightsmedia.wordpress.com and I found that you entered the username with a slash at the end “dlights/”.
I’ve reset the importer for you. Can you try again and leave out any slashes?
-
That URL isn’t loading for me. You should probably contact Posterous about that if a second import doesn’t work.
-
designsimply – have done so, thank you very much, fingers crossed!
macmanx – it is not opening? You cannot see it at: https://dlights.posterous.com/
(a – “see you later” note appears on the top though — that’s odd.)Can you try again?

designsimply — just received a “fail” email again trying to import: http://dlights.posterous.com/ to dlightsmedia.wordpress.com
no / at the end as you suggested.
nothing appears to be wrong, but, when I sent the request through again a second ago from the tools –> import –> posterous, all of the text on the page vanished. The only thing I can now see is the “help” button in the upper right corner.
There appears to be something wrong with wordpress, beyond not being able to import my blog.
Help!! : )
Any ideas?

Can you please try clearing your browser’s cache, then check the import page again?
Also, please check with Posterous about that notice. I have a feeling that it’s interfering.

Fabulous help!
Thank you endlessly!
