Does a date have to be visible on each post? I want to post something from a previous date but its dating it as today.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

No. Some themes display dates, some don’t.

If you publish it today, it doesn’t matter when it was created, the displayed date will be today. However, you may edit both the time and the date.

You can edit datestamps and backdate posts or schedule them for future publication. See here please and take a close look at the images > https://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/schedule-a-post/
There is no free way to remove dates from posts. Publication dates also appear in the URLs of all posts. Removing them from the blog (not the URL) requires upgrading.

Apparently I was wrong about some themes excluding, or allowing the hiding of, post dates. This evidently requires CSS customization regardless of the theme.

Though all themes will have publication dates in the URLs of all posts, not all themes display dates on the blog itself. In those that do display dates usually, but not always it will be positioned near the post title. When we choose a theme that does display dates we can either (1) switch to a theme that does not display them or (2) purchase the upgrade required for CSS editing and hide the date. -
@ timethief,
Thanks for that clarification. I thought I remembered that there were themes which hid or allowed hiding of post dates, at least on the posts page if not on the single posts. After reading your first post here, I thought perhaps I was misremembering. So I did Google and tags searches and found a few topics in which CSS customization was said to be the only workaround. However, in each case the CSS fix was suggested in regard to a specific theme, not generally. That was my mistake.
