Posting on pages other than home page.

How do I post on one of my pages other than my home page so that the post appears on the selected page and not the the home page. If I click new post the post always ends up on the home page even if I change the category.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

WordPress offers only a single stream of posts. These are published on the front page if you choose to do so at Settings > Reading. Pages, which can be created just like posts but lack the dated URL, categories, and tags of a post, are not the same kind of page as the front page. You can’t put a post in, or on, such a page, unless you’re referring to using Custom Menus and having posts as children of such pages, or using links (image or text) to posts within a page.
It is problematic that WordPress chose to use the same term, “page,” for two very different entities.

You correct in your first guess. That is odd that wordpress lacks this feature seems like it would be a common thing to do.
Thank you.
