When going to postorthodox.wordpress.com, you see that the authors deleted their site. There is no blog there. What is the schedule that WordPress has for making available previously used domains?
The answer given by WordPress is:
‘WordPress.com is not notified if or when a domain will be released to be registered again, so we can’t provide any advance warning. Once a domain expires, it can be unavailable for up to 90 days. During this time, the domain goes back on the market and anyone can register it. It’s important to note that you should never allow a domain to expire unless you are fully done with it and never want to use it again. If you would prefer to use your domain with a new host, do not cancel the domain registration. Instead, either connect or transfer the domain to a new registrar. You can find more information on domain connection and transfer here.’
However, this would not apply to a domain controlled by WordPress, such as Post-Orthodox.wordpress.com.
So, can WordPress have a page to notify people if the url will be coming available in the future. If you see that someone gave up the url, because you have access to their WordPress data, can you please write this on the error page?
The next generated reply by WordPress was:
‘Hello Michael! As an AI support for WordPress.com, I’m here to help you with your questions about domain availability. Regarding your suggestion for a page to notify people if a URL will be coming available in the future, I understand the value it could provide. However, as of now, we don’t have such a feature. I’ll be sure to pass your feedback along to our team for consideration.
If you have any more questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask. I’m here to help!’
This makes sense, and I accept your statements. Nonetheless, if your support team is able to provide me with this information, which your company certainly has, it would be most appreciated!
Thank you,
Michael
