Posts by email not appearing when sent from my CerberLink…help?

Hi there! I have a CerberLink unit that is capable of sending emails by satellite. This unit has no problems sending email to anywhere but my WordPress blog. I have generated several email addresses that work fine when I send email from my computer or my phone, but it seems the emails coming from the CerberLink are disappearing into the ether. The email address they are coming from is (email visible only to moderators and staff). Can you help me out here? In only a few days, are leaving for an expedition where the CerberLink will be the only way we will be able to update our blog. It’s very important that I be able to figure out how to do this. Thanks for all your help!

Hi MacManx, the Happiness Engineer! :) Thanks for getting back to me. In about 96 hours I will NOT have any other way to send them, which was why I got the satellite emailer thingy – its sole purpose is to update the blog. I’ll be out in the middle of the Arctic Nowhere, where there isn’t even any electricity let alone internet, wifi or phone coverage.
So, is there any way to put the email that comes from the CerberLink on a NON-SPAM or SAFE list? I have combed through my account and can’t seem to find a place to do that. The email address the emails come from looks like a normal address (although I have no idea what the metadata looks like). It doesn’t show up as spam on any other account I’ve sent it to.
Can you help me and help engineer my happiness? hee hee

Hi there – anything yet? We are getting really nervous because we are leaving in now about 72 hours and still are unable to upload to our blog. Please, is there a way to add the email coming from the CerberLink to the “safe” , non-spam emails?? This is very important as we have obligations to several corporate sponsors to be able to update on our whereabouts, and this is the only way we will be able to do so. Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated!

I do not believe that is possible to whitelist specific clients, but there may be a way to modify yours. I’m waiting for confirmation and we’ll let you know as soon as we do.

Actually, just a quick thought, but perhaps you could setup a Gmail account to forward to your Post by Email account, then use CerberLink to send emails to that Gmail account?

So Gmail might work, hmmm?
We currently use Yahoo as our email provider…I tried to set up our Yahoo email account to forward to the WordPress Post-By-Email randomly generated email account, but it wouldn’t work because it needs to be verified at the email account receiving the emails (the randomly generated WordPress one), and since that isn’t a real email account, I can’t get at the verification URL.
Wow, that was probably a very hard paragraph to follow… basically what I was trying to say there is that I tried that already with our Yahoo account. BUT, let me try to set up a Gmail account, and see if Google plays nicer than Yahoo with the servers…

Well, bad news. Gmail seems to be even worse – NOTHING came through from them. At least the Yahoo one sent what appeared to be an empty message (although I am pretty sure it had a URL in it somewhere originally).
I guess the email providers are just trying to protect me, the user, from having some crazy weirdo hijack my email and forward it to his without my knowledge…but since I can’t verify the forwarded email, I can’t actually forward it.
ARRGH! So frustrated!

I guess WordPress is also trying to protect me from weirdos, but the auto-spam thing that I can’t turn off or configure is pretty frustrating. Is there a way for you guys there at The Big WordPress In The Sky to at least be able to see what the confirmation URL from the Yahoo email is?
I will also try to set up a Hotmail account, while we’re at it. Fingers crossed..

Argh, that is rough. I don’t suppose you have any alternatives to a CerberLink? A cell phone perhaps, preferably one that can run apps?

I wish we had an alternative to a Cerberlink, but we’re going to be on a 2000 mile kayak trip, part of which is north of the Arctic circle, and 99% of which is without cell coverage or even regular satellite modem coverage because it’s so far north. In fact we purchased this (not cheap) unit for the sole purpose, and as the ONLY option, of being able to keep up to date with our sponsors…which was part of the sponsorship deal….
That’s why it’s so important to figure this out! However, THANK YOU FOR SENDING ME THE VERIFY LINKS… we’ll try that!!!

One more thought, as a last minute resort if I were in your shoes, you could ask a friend or family member to update the blog for you and just email the posts to him/her.
