Posts missing from tags – yes, I know it's been asked a million times

I’ve searched all the reasons I can find and can’t work out why posts on one of my blogs aren’t appearing in the relevant tags. My other 2 do so why not this one? The blog I need help with is http://flyinggoannas.wordpress.com/

Well, you’re using tags that nobody else has ever used: http://wordpress.com/category/lifou/

What tag page should I find that last post of yours in?

  • Unknown's avatar

Maybe some of them but I’m pretty sure people have posted to “travel” before, as well as others I’ve used. I know, because I’ve been there. So, what about those ones? Lifou was only on my latest one. None of the posts on this blog have ever appeared as far as I can tell.

Well, do you post them spontaneously or do you create drafts and post them at a later time/date? Because what determines the position in the tag pages is when the draft was STARTED, not when it was published. So you could well have been on the Travel page, but back a day or more ago before you hit the Publish button.

The solution to this is to edit the datestamp and the permalink to reflect the date of publishing, not the date you created the draft. THEN publish.

Thank you. That may possibly be the answer because I nearly always save drafts before publishing. I’ll test this theory soon and post a new question if it still doesn’t work. Cheers.

Good luck! I can see your posts could be quite time-consuming. If this is the issue, that should help you a great deal in terms of visibility.

Thanks. Yes, they are time-consuming but a labour of love and really for family and friends who get posts on Facebook or email. But I now have a few followers so perhaps there are others that are interested. Just frustrating really.
