    Hello! If I purchase a domain name ($18/year per my understanding) and later select a website building plan, will the prorated domain purchase price be deducted from the cost of my plan? Or should I just buy a plan even though I don’t plan on setting up a website for several months? Thanks!

    Hi there,

    If you buy a domain only via https://wordpress.com/domains, and then later connect it to a WordPress.com site, you should receive an automatic discount for the domain’s cost when buying the plan.

    However, if you want to connect the domain to a WordPress.com site immediately, you will be required to buy a plan right away.

    Also note that while the first year’s registration for the domain is free with the plans, subsequent renewals of the domain will be at an additional cost.
