Pre-publish Checks Sidebar and Jetpack iframe Conflict?
-
Hi, I am new to using WordPress to publish content and I’ve written my first post. When I click the blue ‘Publish’ button at the top right, and the pre-publish checks sidebar appears, I am experiencing an issue where the iframe/sidebar will randomly refresh and certain elements such as the Tags section and the Category drop down will just disappear from the sidebar entirely. I am still very unfamiliar with what options should actually be appearing in that Pre-publish Checks sidebar, but from what I have gathered while testing this issue in both Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox browsers (with no browser extensions or addons installed) my best guess is that the ‘Jetpack’ WordPress plugin may be overriding the Pre-publish checks? I don’t know where to disable the Jetpack plugin, or if it’s even possible(?), but I would like to be able to use both Pre-Publish Checks and Jetpack, so any advice would be much appreciated and if I have to disable one to use the other, I would just like to be aware of how to do so. Thank you.

Hey there, thanks for reporting this, and for sharing the details of which browsers are giving you this trouble.
If this is on faunaclub.wordpress.com, there won’t be a way to disable Jetpack features, since they’re basically baked into simple sites on our hosting services.
But if we can get enough information to duplicate the problem, we can likely find a fix.
the iframe/sidebar will randomly refresh
I was able to duplicate this. Seems it refreshes once after about 10 seconds
and certain elements such as the Tags section and the Category drop down will just disappear from the sidebar entirely
I was not able to duplicate this part. The publish check page did refresh, but if I close that panel, all of my post / Jetpack settings are where I left them, with the same settings I had before.
Can you share a few more details about what you’re seeing — or if possible, can you get a screencast and share that? You’d need to upload it somewhere then link it here.

Luckily I didn’t have to wait long for it to happen. At the 0:39 second mark in this clip I just recorded is where the sidebar refreshes, and you can see the Tags and Category sections are gone. https://gyazo.com/97ce0ad119a61e5c0f4fd9dca2f81c1a

Thank you for that! I was actually able to reproduce this, so I have already reported it to our developers.
Hopefully, they’ll come up with a fix soon. In the meantime, if you need to add a tag or a category after it disappears from the social preview, close it to get back to post editing. Whatever you added in the social preview should still be there.
