Premium Plans and transferring domains

  I am trying to purchase a premium plan. But I would like to import a domain I already own from GoDaddy. If I purchase the plan now, to build the site, and then transfer my domain, will I still receive it for free for the first year? Or do I have to transfer it before I even purchase a premium subscription?

  Hi there,

  Once you purchase a plan with WordPress.com, you will receive a free domain credit that you can use to either register a new domain or transfer/map a domain from another host. So, yes, you can purchase the plan first and then redeem the domain for no additional cost for the first year.
