print

I just want to print a pdf of my blog — it seems like it has to be simpler than what I am finding online. I’ve tried blogbooker and other external services, but can’t get the photos to be included. Please help.

  • Hi there, photos are usually excluded from printing websites to preserve ink.

If BlogBooker didn’t work well for you, there are other services you could explore, like:

    http://www.feedfabrik.com/
    http://www.blurb.com/create/book/blogbook
    http://www.fastpencil.com/

You could also simply use Mac’s built-in PDF feature, by choosing Print > Save as PDF from your browser’s menu. The formatting isn’t fancy and you may need to repeat the process a few times to get all your posts but I just tested it on your site in Firefox and the photos are included.

Let me know how it goes.

Here is what I have found:

feedfabrik.com no longer exhists — strike one.

fastpencil.com only works if I have PDF’s to begin with, which I’m having trouble with. — strike two

pdf’s — i’ve tried from firefox’s print menu, but they are sloppy — obviously, they don’t allow for any customization. and i have a several year history of photos in my blog, that there doesn’t seem to be anyway to generate — the print pdf is giving me the first 5-8 posts.

Then there is blurb — I can’t even get into this option deep enough to know if it would work because it only slurps content that is not self hosted. Below I will post my exchange with Blurb’s tech support.

Any other ideas? I’m banging my head against a wall — I have several years of photos and content that I simply want to be able to print OR pdf. Either works for me. I just feel like there is some simple solution staring me in the face, I can’t believe I’m the only one out there who has ever wanted to print their content and images.

For what its worth, this is what Blurb told me. If there is a work around to this issue, I’d love to know.

    Hi Rachel,

    Thank you for contacting Blurb.

BookSmart can currently slurp from Blogger, LiveJournal, TypePad and WordPress.com blogs.

BookSmart’s slurpers can only slurp blogs hosted by the actual platform, and can’t support custom installations or domains. For example, our blog uses WordPress but is hosted on our site (http://blog.blurb.com) so it can’t be slurped.

I am sorry for the inconvenience and encourage you to either copy/paste your entries or transfer your entries to a supported platform if possible.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

    Best Regards,

    Marília

Hi — I have a blog on wordpress that I’d like to print. I’ve downloaded your software, and am having no luck getting anywhere. My blog address is frommert.org or frommertdotorg.wordpress.com. The blurb software doesn’t seem able to find it. Any advice?

Thanks for letting me know – I’ll remove that from our list.

For BookSmart, if the issue is your custom domain, a workaround could be to temporarily make frommertdotorg.wordpress.com your primary domain while the service “slurps” your site. (Visitors would still be able to reach your site through either domain during that this.) Then, set it back to frommert.org when it’s done.

You can set your primary domain under Store > Domains:

    https://frommertdotorg.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains

Let me know if this could work.
