My blog is in its beginnings. I do not want people to be able to see my email address or know who I am. Can people that look at my WordPress blog find that information? It’s not that I will be up to no good, it’s just that I am uneasy with the thought.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

When you comment on a post on another site while logged into your WordPress.com account, the owner of that site will see your email and IP address in their comment moderation tools, and the same if you submit a contact form on another site.

But unless you add your email address and/or name to your site’s content yourself, it will not be visible to anyone visiting your site. If you reply to comments on your site the other person also won’t see your email. Only site owners see the email addresses of commenters on their own sites.

Your username, altcommittee98, is visible, both when you reply to comments, and it is shown as the author of your posts. If you want to change your username to make it more anonymous you can do that. You can also set a public display name that people will see in your posts and comments, though your username will still be visible in the URL for the author archives on your site.
