I’ve set my privacy settings to public, yet when I try search my blog through a search engine I’m brought to a screen that says ‘This site is marked private by its owner. If you would like to view it, you’ll need permission from the site owner. Request an invite and we’ll send your username to the site owner for their approval.’

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m seeing the site in any search I try. What are you searching? Is it working now?

I searched “thelavenderhours” in Google, and I had also copy and pasted my URL to my Instagram bio but had the same issue when I tried to click it on my phone. I’m able to access my site as the creator, but for some reason when I search it it says its protected. I guess as long as others are not having any issue I’m okay I guess? I might mess around with it a bit more tomorrow to see what else it could be. Thanks for your response!

  • Hi there,

After changing the privacy setting for your site it won’t show up in search engines immediately, but it can take a few weeks for search engines to index the site before it will start showing.

If you mean the actual link is taking you to a Site Protected page, that might be your browser cache. lavenderhours.wordpress.com is definitely set to public, so please see if clearing your browser cache doesn’t make a difference.
