  how can I approve viewers for my private blog without them having to set up a wordpress.com account? ( 80 something old parents for example)

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi there,

  All viewers added to a private site must have a WordPress.com account — this ensures that only those people you’ve authorized are able to view it

  So, the only way for them to see your site is if they register for a WordPress.com account. They can create an account without creating a blog here:
