Private blog – invitations
-
How do I ‘invite’ people via email to read my blog without having a wordpress account? If everyone has a wordpress account, can they then edit it? I just want to publish a narrative and have people able to read or comment
ThanksThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,
WordPress.com evidently requires a “viewer” of a private blog to be assigned to the “user role” called “Viewer.” See the Inviting Contributors, Followers, and Viewers support page. The Viewer section of the User Roles support page says (in part):
Viewers are users who can only view private sites. Like Followers, Viewers do not have any editing privileges. All they can do is simply read the private site they were invited to and leave comments on it (again, only if you’ve enabled them).
If everyone has a wordpress account, can they then edit it?
No. Only those assigned to the certain user roles have editing privileges, but the privileges vary accoring to the role. See the Summary section of the User Roles support page.
