Private blog on public website?

If I go premium and get a private domain can I make my website private? Currently, my wordpress.com address requires my readers to create an account to view my blog. I would like to be able to create a password protected website so I can just send my readers a password they can use to unlock my blog from a domain address and not a wordpress address. Does that make sense?

This question is assuming that with a premium domain address it is completely visible to the public…or can I make the blog at this address private and my readers can access it without a wordpress acct?

    Thank you…

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You cannot create a password-protected site at WordPress.com. You can only password protect one post at a time.

You can have a custom domain on a private site like yours. The procedure to read the blog is the same whether it has a custom domain or not. The only thing that changes is the URL.

You cannot have a site that is private if WP.com cannot verify who is accessing it. And they verify it by having them sign in. Do you have some other idea about how to do this?
