Problem with images

I threw up a couple of images as placeholders while I got my site organized. Recently, those images have disappeared, and any new images I’ve tried to upload haven’t been visible either. Does anyone have any ideas about what might be causing it?

Have you deleted those images from your media library? I’m asking because we have had a rash of people doing that and of course as they have deleted the images from their media library they are no longer on wordpress.com servers.
If that’s not the case will you please tell us:
(1) which browser and version of it you are using?
(2) whether or not you have tried these techniques? http://support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#force-refresh
(3) whether or not you have tried another browser? -
Sure. I’m on Firefox, but I’ve checked on IE and Safari too. For all three browsers, I tried both a force refresh and clearing my cache.
I didn’t remember deleting anything from the media library, but I’ve done a lot of clicking around today in the fear that I might have unchecked an option inadvertently, so I went and checked the library. The files are still listed there, but there are no thumbnails appearing, and when I click on the file, no image appears.
