Problem with internal links

  Hi. I hope someone can help. I run a blog for my local allotment site (its used purely to update with minutes/events/advice etc) and upload word docs & pdfs – they now ALL download instead of opening in a new window/tab. I know this will drive folk crazy and they wont read the minutes/notices etc. Is there any way to fix this so that docs either open in a new tab or the same tab?- I dont want them to download! Do I need to change the theme maybe? I’m currently using Twenty Ten. All my external links are fine. TIA

  Hi,

  When I right clicked on the first docx link I was given an option to open the document, with a choice of software to use to open it, or to save the document. I chose to open it with Microsoft Word, and to automatically open future documents of the same kind with Word. Thereafter, clicking on any link opens directly to the document using my chosen software.

  Thanks for the reply. I dont seem to get that option myself – maybe it’s the browser Im using? I’ll keep searching but dont think there’s anything I can do about it. Thanks again :)

  Thankyou! I’ll do that – hopefully there’s a solution but Im not holding out much hope tbh! It never used to do it which is the frustrating thing!

  You’re correct, it is a browser related issue – depending on the browser, the document will download or open in another tab. I see that you are using Firefox, so here are some helpful links on how to adjust settings depending on your needs:

  Change what Firefox does when you click on or download a file
