Problems connecting to a private blog to which a friend has invited me

A friend has invited me to view her blog and has given me the address of the blog. When I accept the invitation, I am directed to a general WordPress site to register and log in. I already have registered with WordPress, and when I log in it just takes me to a general information page again. How do I actually get to my friend’s blog?
I want to view a blog which has been marked “Private” but to which she has given me an e-mailed invitation with a link on which to click.

Hi Ingrid,
Can you try logging in to your WordPress.com account first and then clicking the link to accept your friend’s invitation? Once you have accepted the invitation, you can view your friend’s blog by going to the My Blogs section of your dashboard.
If you have any further trouble with this, please let me know and I’ll be happy to look into it for you. It would also help to know the address of your friend’s blog so I can check it in our records. Thanks!
