Problems customizing blog

Hi, i’m working on my blog now and finding it difficult to make changes.
    1. I change and save font, and it looks like it has been changed, but when i open my blog in a new window – i see text as it was before it was changed.
    2. The same problem with background. I removed background completely, but in a new window – background is still there.
    3. I uploaded a few images (full size). Placed two of them next to each other as it’s how i’d like them to appear. But again – in Edit window, they look how i’d like them to, but when i open my blog in a new window – images are placed one under another.

This is a page i’m working on at the minute http://jekaterinaskeneva.wordpress.com/everyday-well-being/

    Thank you.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Do you have the custom design upgrade? If not, you will have a limited ability to customize the appearance.

WordPress.com sells custom design upgrades. They allow us to “preview” change that do not actually display on the blog unless we purchase the upgrade.

If you have not purchased the custom design upgrade note that no changes you try out aside from those such as Custom Background, Custom Header, etc. which are stated on the theme description pages in the features column (right hand side) will be visible to visitors.

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/editing-css/
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/custom-fonts/

You do not need to load the design tools unless you have the Custom Design upgrade. All of these functions can be accessed from your dashboard – without loading the custom design tools – no upgrade required.
    Appearance > Header
    Appearance > Background
Appearance > Theme Options (applicable only to some themes)
Settings > Reading (set a static front page)
Site Title and Tagline > Settings > General

If you are using the preview mode for the Custom Design upgrade some of the settings in that mode will save but they won’t show up on the front end unless you purchase the upgrade.

To go back to the free options, go to Appearance → Themes → Customize → Colors and click the “exit the preview” link in yellow at the top of the panel on the right.

Well i’m trying to use what’s available. My question is – why it shows me that it has made those changes but it fact it has not. Looking at examples of last years students i can see that they have changed fonts and background…. They all used free themes.
Also i’m not sure if you can view text history – i’ve had problems with wordpress before, it had nothing to do with free or paid theme, it was wordpress which was not working properly. Support team was extremely helpful then though so they’ve corrected the mistakes that wordpress has made.

    Regards.

It is not exactly ‘custom design’ , it just a font , background and images layout/size…. And i tried to make changes the way you suggest. Changes seems to work even after i press save. It tells me that it worked. Besides now after i tried 100 times background finally disappeared. Is it how wordpress works?

It shows you those changes without saving them because you don’t have the custom design upgrade, that’s why.

Background had not ben working either and suddenly it worked.

You can make font changes by hand, using HTML code, post by post, via this method: http://en.support.wordpress.com/editors/font-size-color/

That does not affect headlines etc.

You can upload a background image only to certain themes. If it’s not on your Theme Options page of the dashboard, you don’t have one of those themes.

If you want two images side by side either put them in an HTML table or align one left, the other right.

Headline fond/size has been fine, all changes worked, same with image on the front page. It’s just a text on a page.
    Thanks, i’ll try that.
