Problems embedding youtube playlist

  • Unknown's avatar

    I am trying to embed a youtube playlist into a post. When i preview the post before publishing, the playlist appears on the post, but when you hit ‘play’, none of the songs play, or appear, just a black youtube screen. Thoughts and suggestions? I’ve done this many times before, using the same process and it has always worked. (embed code, copy and paste it into blog post)

    Thanks for your time!

    Hi Paul,

    I just took a look at your recent post with a YouTube playlist here: http://unsungpresents.com/2013/08/30/august-and-everything-after-4/

    When I hit the “play” button, it worked for me. A couple things to check: If you have a slower internet connection, it may take some time for the video to load. Also, for the video to load, you’ll need to make sure that you have permission to view the playlist videos. (You can check that by viewing the playlist on YouTube and making sure the videos load there.)

    If you can view the videos fine on YouTube but still can’t load them on your WordPress.com blog, please let me know and I can keep looking into this for you!

    Thanks for the reply Rachel. Yes, i got it to work, but I actually had to manually add the programming code “list=PLLyKuID7N8HSHsCY7RCMIV4WecDqxB98y” to the youtube player inside my post :

    [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=videoseries&list=PLLyKuID7N8HSHsCY7RCMIV4WecDqxB98y&w=560&h=315]

    i’ve never had to do that before….we’ll have to see if it happens the next time i try to insert a playlist.

    Hi Paul,

    You will indeed need the “list=” part of the playlist URL, either when pasting the link or using the YouTube shortcode, to get the full playlist to appear. I updated our YouTube support page to explain how that works: YouTube

    Thanks for bringing this up!
