Problems with installing & Updating Plugins after Migration

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,
I have just moved a site from a Shared cPanel Hosting to an AWS Lightsail VPS, everything is working other than not being able to install or update Plugins, which of course is not making the site look as it should.

I have gone through google and found it looks like an issue with permissions which sounds quite possible, but for every video or instruction I look at the directory structure does not match, I am also wondering if I need to change something in my wp-config file as I did not change anything from the standard which as I said the site comes up but just not quite right.

    Can someone please help me.

    Thanks Adam

Installation failed: Could not create directory.
    or
Update failed: Could not create directory.

  • Hi there,

I do not see any sites under your @itcbs WordPress.com account when I check on our end. You can confirm by visiting this page: https://wordpress.com/sites.

Is it possible you created your site under a different login instead? What is the URL of the site you are needing help with?

Happy to check in our system so we can take a closer look.

We can’t help you as your site isn’t running on the wordpress.com platform but is hosted elswhere meaning it uses the open source wordpress.org. Best would be to contact your hosting support to solve this problem.
