problems with spacing between sentences and paragraphs
-
Hi I have been reading through the forums and have tried the suggestions to get my spacing between sentences and paragraphs as per your instructions to other posters but no luck. Can you please help me the last few stories I have posted are all having this same issue. My formatting is lost even though i am using Visual editor and paragraphs. I also tried inserting spaces between paragraphs by pressing shift and space, no luck. an example of the problem is http://janememe.wordpress.com/3-days-3-nights-in-rathambor-ragna-ff-ema/ as opposed to previous posting which is fine http://janememe.wordpress.com/the-phoenix-rises-a-romantic-love-story-by-jane/the-phoenix-rises-a-maaneet-love-story-chapters-five-and-six/
BTW I love wordpress and recommend to everyone who loves blogging ;))
thanking you in advance. janememe.wordpress.com

Blog editors and word processors are not the same and do not work the same way. The web standard is one blank line only, so you cannot add more blank lines by pressing return repeatedly like you would do with a typewriter or in a word processing application. If you want to learn how to format and space your posts and pages see: http://en.support.wordpress.com/writing-and-formatting-poetry/
If you are working in the Visual editor, to get single spacing between paragraphs hold the SHIFT key down and simultaneously click ENTER at the end of the paragraph.
If you are working in the HTML (Text) editor, a single click of ENTER will give you a single-spaced line, and two clicks of ENTER will result in double spaced lines.

P.S. When you create a new post, always make sure the Format tool is set to Paragraph before you start typing. It’s in the Visual editor Row 2 first position “style”. See the illustration here http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#row-2 If you forget to do that then edit the post, highlight all in the Visual editor, select Paragraph from the Format tool, switch editor to Text then switch back to Visual and click Update.

Thank you so much Timethief for your reply. I have tried those things and also tried again today following your instructions but still the page views as one long post .
Hmmm dunno *pulling hair out* ;)

Well, there’s a metric shit-ton of junk code in there. You’re copy pasting from Word or something, aren’t you? It would prevent the issue utterly if you had never done that, but it looks like you have a cumulative HTML error on your site.
Go to the Settings->Writing page, select “WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML” and save. Then go to that page and set it to private, then set it back to Public. See if that fixes the issue. If it does not, then you will have to edit any text widgets you have too.

WOW! thanks guys.
two things I did that seems to have worked.1) Go to the Settings->Writing page, select “WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML” and save
2) when copying and pasting from word I pressed the ‘save as text’ button whilst in Visual mode. Also making sure Paragraphs was clicked.
its seems to have worked.
Most grateful to you both! :))
Thank you very much!
