Problems with trying to log in
-
Hello all,
I want to log into my WordPress, so I can make some updates on my website, but I forgot my password. Went to retrieve my password, gave my e-mail address, and then I needed to check my e-mail for the confirmation URL. Only I don’t get this e-mail even though it is 3 hours later by now, and WordPress isn’t in my list of blocked senders.
So I went googling, stumbled upon this thread on the forum (https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/not-receiving-confirmation-email-or-reset-password-email), where you are being advised to check whether your e-mail is correct on this page; https://wordpress.com/me/account
Filled out my e-mail address, and it’s not recognized on that page. Which makes me wonder why my e-mail address does appear to be recognized when I try to retrieve my password… but okay, so I tried my other e-mail addresses on both the password retrieving page and the page to check on my e-mail addresses, but without success.
And now I am stuck, with no options to contact WordPress directly, so here I am; how can I progress with logging in when all options for me to do so are being made impossible for me?
Thanks in advance, best regards,

And no, these password retrieval emails (think I have requested it 10 times by now) also did not end up in my spam folder.

Hi Jeroen,
Your site is not hosted on WordPress.com, so we cannot help with this. The password for that site has no connection to your WordPress.com account, but is stored in your site’s database on your hosting provider’s servers. We don’t have any access there to help you reset it.
You can see the password reset instructions for your version of WordPress at https://wordpress.org/support/article/resetting-your-password/
For more help with this, please ask the WordPress.org community for advice at https://wordpress.org/support/forums, or contact your hosting provider instead.

Hi Kokkieh,
My website indeed is not hosted on WordPress, however the skin that I have used does come from WordPress, and when I try to log into the admin section of my website, the login screen is made possible by WordPress. That’s why I thought I had to look for advice over here. :)
Sadly none of the password reset instructions work for me. Honestly, I don’t understand a thing of anything from the MySQL Command Line (yep, hardcore programmer here… XD ), and that automatic emailer doesn’t seem to work, as I have requested to change my password about 10 times yesterday, but I did not receive any email at all, even though WordPress isn’t among my blocked senders. And it looks like it doesn’t get any better today.
So yeah, contacting my hosting provider it is, I am guessing… either way, thanks for your support.

That is a self-hosted WordPress.org site, which we really can’t help with here.
To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/
WordPress.org has complete documentation for self-hosted/installed versions of WordPress.org at https://wordpress.org/support/ and support at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
