Problems with Twenty Twelve template seeing images in IE and Firefox
-
Hi, just signed up for a blog and domain and am getting reports that images are not showing in IE or Firefox.
The blog is cambridgemppblog.org and I’m running it as a template (i.e. have not tried to customise, child template etc) as I wanted to run this with as little overhead as possible.
Is there a permanent problem for these browsers in viewing the Twenty Twelve template? Or is there something stupid that I’ve done?
Many thanks

Can you give me an example of a page or a post that should have images but does not? Are you yourself seeing the images? Or are you just getting reports that others cannot see them?

Thanks for that – the problem persists apparently as reported to me across all of the pages, as the featured image of a cropped Kings College either just doesn’t appear (failing gracefully) or leaves an unloaded image box where the image would have appeared (failing really ungracefully).
The problem is also there for the image widget which is a simple jpeg of the MPP logo which is clickable to head to the main pages for the University and for the application process.
Just rechecked this on my laptop running IE9 and its just leaving boxes where the images should be …. I’m guessing I’m doing something incredibly stupid and simple but cannot spot the obvious error.
Many thanks again for the help.

So I am not seeing any images at all on http://cambridgemppblog.org. If you could let me know a specific page where I should be seeing an image. It would really help. Telling me that you are seeing it “across all of the pages” gives me an idea of the scope of the issue, but it doesn’t give me anything to look into.
Does that make sense?

Sorry, sleep deprivation from small children making me incoherent.
On the homepage which uses the front page template (http://cambridgemppblog.org/) below the navigation menu there should be a cropped image of a cathedral. Also at the bottom of that page on the right hand side there is an image widget (a simple MPP in letters).
Then on each of the other pages (which use the default template) again the large image of the cathedral should be below the navigation menu and the image widget is again on the right but higher up just below the text which begins “This is a companion site for …”
For IE9 and others none of these images are showing up.
Does that make sense? Again thanks for putting time into this, it is appreciated. Can I check what you’re viewing the site in? And have the images shown up for you?

Do not worry about explaining the effects of small children to me! I understand completely. If someone had told me that someday the thing I would want most in life would be a solid 8 hours of sleep, I would have laughed. But now….sigh.
So, I think you are going to need to check your file URLs for those images. For example, let’s use the image widget. In the widget, you have this listed as the image file to display:
But as best as I can tell, this is the image that you were trying to display:

Yep as I thought me being very stupid – when I did the test site it had a longer domain name, then purchased the Premium upgrade and remapped the site name, but the image URLs didn’t automatically shift with the change to the domain name.
Have fixed this (I think), many many thanks for all the help.
Best (and good luck with getting some sleep)
