I am getting ready to launch a second book and I ma interested in adult-supervision in remaking my blog. I am curious how much it would cost to find some help making my blog look it’s best.

You won’t get anyone with any experience or ability for less than about $50 an hour. Most of my peers who have a “website analysis” service charge a couple of thousand dollars up front.

Thx for the reply Raincoaster. I assumed there would be a healthy bill rate. I guess what it boils down to for me would be deciding what kind of improvements I could make at various price points. I can’t afford a lot but my thinking is that there might be some easy to address things I could do that I could afford, Low hanging fruit if you will.

The #1 thing you can do is buy a custom domain. Do it now, before the launch. Any consultant will tell you that right away.
Because the site is hosted at WP.com there is a minimal amount of theme tinkering and technical SEO you can do to it, which saves you money and annoys consultants. Make sure anyone you hire to do this knows the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org; that’s the key.
