Profile Links

I am unable to remove a profile link that is inaccurate. I keep getting the message: ‘An unexpected error occurred. Please try again later.’ I have returned several hours and several days later, and the error message continues to appear.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Howdy –

Let me know if clearing your browser cache does the trick. Here are the instructions to do that:

Thank you, but this did not work. I cleared history and cleared cookies, and it made no difference. When I’m in my profile, I am unable to delete the blog page that does not exist (I tap the link that takes me to nothing).

  • Hi there,

Are you referring to the blog page http://www.FlourishingPalms.blogspot.com? If so, while logged into your account are you going to Account Settings page to delete or update the blog address?

You should be able to delete that old URL and replace it with the more recent one. However, let me know if you do receive the same error that you have been receiving.

    Thanks,

Yes. I want to keep the blog name you wrote. I want to delete the one listed above it that’s incorrect. I have repeatedly tried to delete it and get the error message: An unexpected error occurred. Try again later.

The wrong blog goes to a page with the message: Cannot open this page because the address is invalid.

  • @hunger4d would you mind if we try deleting them on our end? I noticed you have the blogspot link as well as a broken link, so we’d like to try removing both, if that’s okay with you. If we can duplicate the error you’re getting, we’ll work to get it fixed. And if we can’t duplicate it, at least the links will be gone.

    Does that work for you?

Certainly! Thank you for your assistance!

  • Okay, I was able to remove that link via your Gravatar.com profile instead.

The reason you couldn’t remove it from the WordPress.com profile page is because that link appeared to be broken, but it’s not clear how it got in that state. Can you recall what that link used to be? And do you remember if it was originally added via wordpress.com/me, or directly via Gravatar?

Yes, I was aware the link was broken, but sure couldn’t figure out how to get rid of it. I don’t remember what that link went to, but perhaps it’s something I mis-entered into that information space. Or, if I added it directly from Gravatar, I did so at least five years ago! The memory is too distance to recall how that came about. In any case, thank you everyone for working through this with me. I’m very grateful for your assistance and resolution to the problem.
