Promise of $13/yr but Instructions on ‘Domains »Use a Domain You Already Own (Domain Mapping)’ lead me into paying $96.

    I am following the instructions on the page https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/ but when I do I am led into a shopping cart sequence that demands a minimum of $96/yr. That price is not acceptable. Even worse is the value of my time which has been wasted.

    Hi there,

    Adding domain mapping to a site requires a paid plan. From the support page you link to above:

    You will need an upgraded WordPress.com plan on your site in order to map a domain. Each paid plan comes with a free domain credit you can use to either register a new domain, or either transfer or map one you already own.

    If you don’t want the Premium Plan, you can go to My Site ->Plans and add a different plan before adding the domain.
