  How do I prevent my work from getting stolen?

  Hi there, It’s sad to say, but the only sure way to make certain that your work isn’t stolen is by not putting it up on the internet to begin with or by keeping your site Private so only you can see it. Even with various plugins and workarounds, anyone who is determined to take your content will find a way.

  If you decide you want your site to be Publicly visible, you can make your terms of use clear by putting up a copyright notice on your site in a place where it is always visible, like in an HTML widget. Some of our users use Copyscape.com but you can also find your content by simply searching for it.

  Technically, once something is published online it is covered by copyright, but this doesn’t prevent content theft. The support folks at WordPress.com have written up an excellent guide at https://en.support.wordpress.com/copyright-infringement-what-to-do/ if you find your content on someone else’s site.
