The public profile for my account, Saddletramp1956, got changed from https://wordpress.com/reader/users/saddletramp1956 to https://wordpress.com/reader/users/greatbird2258541282. As a result, I can no longer access my site. I reached out early this morning for support but have not heard from anyone. I need this issue addressed so I can update my site, gete my email, etc.

Nobody changed your account. You created the account greatbird2258541282 only a few hours ago yourself. Simply log out from greatbird2258541282 and log in again as saddletramp1956. Problem solved.

No, I did not. I never created that account. I created Saddletramp1956 in January 2024 when I started my site.
As you said, this account is only a few hours old, but MY real account and website is over a year old. I have the receipts and need to hear from WordPress support on this ASAP.

I went in to check my email and suddenly saw a message that said I had no sites. That’s when I noticed the public profile was completely wrong. Are you a support person?

I see this account has no sites. What would happen if I deleted this profile? Would my site, saddletramp1956.com, disappear?

“You will not be able to open a new WordPress.com account using the same email address for 30 days.

This account, even though it’s not using my public profile, is using my email address. Forget that idea.

Yes you did create the account greatbird2258541282 yourself on Feb 13, 2025; how would it be otherwise possible you can log in to it?
greatbird2258541282 and saddletramp1956 are 2 completely different wordpress.com accounts. You even called https://wordpress.com/forums/users/greatbird2258541282/ as Saddletramp1956’s Profile, just as your other account https://wordpress.com/forums/users/saddletramp1956/. You even use for both accounts the same photo.
Just do as I advice you to do: log out from greatbird2258541282 and log in again as saddletramp1956.

No, I DID NOT create this greatbird account. I am not lying! When I saw it was attached to my username, I found I could go into that profile. From there, I changed the password. I tried logging out of it and logging into my profile, but it defaulted to this.

That did not work. I even tried resetting my password. It defaulted to this profile. I need an actual support person.

Now when I go to https://wordpress.com/reader/users/saddletramp1956, I get an error saying the user doesn’t exist. WTH?

Resetting the password for this new greatbird2258541282 account won’t help you to reach a completely different account created a year ago. Do as @staartmees says. Completely log out from here. Forget the new password and log in with the correct credentials you used a year ago for the original account.

That did not work. Logged out completely, tried logging in with my original creds, had to have WP send a login link, and it defaulted back to this profile.

That didn’t work as you are still logged in to the wrong account.
Just follow the two step below:
- completely log out from current – https://wordpress.com/support/log-in-to-wordpress-com/#log-out-of-wordpress-com
- log in again using the username saddletramp1956 (not an email address but the username!) – https://wordpress.com/support/log-in-to-wordpress-com/

If you follow exactly the 2 steps I gave you, nothing can go wrong and you go direct into your account saddletramp1956. Make sure you ‘log in’ and certainly do not create a new account!
Just follow the two step below:
- completely log out from current – https://wordpress.com/support/log-in-to-wordpress-com/#log-out-of-wordpress-com
- log in again using the username saddletramp1956 (not an email address but the username!) – https://wordpress.com/support/log-in-to-wordpress-com/
