  I have a WIX site I’m replacing, it has my URL going to it, I don’t need a new URL, nor do I want my URL going to a site that isn’t finished. How do I build a premium site without paying $45 for nothing and/or without getting a url? Just want to build on the side then host/go-live when it’s done.

  I’d like to have all the options, though I’m learning to do this myself, so it may honestly take 1-2 months, between clients, working and whatever else. I don’t want it live anywhere until it’s done.

  I see that you already have a free site at this URL: https://fac3ofag0dd3ss.wordpress.com/ – if you’d like to create a new site, you can go to https://wordpress.com/pricing → choose the free plan, and get started with a WordPress.com address. You won’t have to pay until you are ready to upgrade. However, note that certain features will not be available until you’ve upgraded. In that sense, you can’t create a site with the premium features without upgrading to the Premium plan first.

  Also, you can keep your site private until you’re ready to go live. A new site will be in the ‘coming soon’ mode by default, but here are the instructions again if you want to launch it and then set it as private again: https://wordpress.com/support/settings/privacy-settings/
